Welcome to Thunderhoof Ranch and Rescue

Our Mission

is to rescue and rehab draft horses and working horses at risk for slaughter. Our mission is comprised of attending auctions as well as bailing directly from kill pens and getting these amazing animals individualized attention for a successful life including but not limited to vet, farrier, dental care and behavioral support. Additionally we provide a safe environment for sharing the therapeutic bond of horses for a variety of holistic, religious, counseling, and rehabilitative needs.

We offer several programs and we are always willing to discuss more ways we can contribute to our community.

Horse and Large Animal Rescue

We rescue and rehabs draft horses and working horses at risk for slaughter providing a safe and loving sanctuary focused on quality of life while the Horse leans the caring and compassionate role it can play with humans in its post-work life.

Community Equine Education

From home-school visits to group tours we are happy to share the story of these amazing animals and to educate the community on horsemanship in general.

Counseling and Therapy Enhancement

Equine therapy is a proved successful forum for helping people heal, learn, and grow in a multitude of scenarios. Our animals are available for professionals to supplement their practices bringing more options to a crucial community field.

Horse Remittance

Thunderhoof Ranch and Rescue generally finds Horses through auctions and kill pens however we will gladly intercept Draft horses and working horses directly through remittance in order to avoid the kill pen pipeline.

Equine Resource Referrals

As a rescue we have a lot of connections to local equine resources. We are always glad to share our experiences to promote a stronger community of horse owners and enthusiasts.

Therapeutic Riding

Establishing a bond with a Horse is an amazing thing and we want to bring that bond to as many people as possible! Starting with fundamentals of horse care and grooming then expanding to ground training then riding we provide access for our volunteers.

Veteran Services

With Thunderhoof Ranch and Rescue being organized by a Veteran, our Veterans will ALWAYS have a place here.
